Getting To The Race... Another Adventure Entirely!

Here are some great photos courtesy of Brian on s/v Stay Gold on just what goes into getting to the start of the race from the North.  We sometimes forget about the great adventures had delivering the boats to and from the race........thanks Brian!

Moored in Astoria after a two-part delivery from Gig Harbor to Port Angeles then PA to Astoria. Left PA Sunday at 7:45pm, arrived at 1130am in Astoria.

Decent swell...running a few miles off the coast from Westport on the delivery down.

Put the kite up with 15-20 knots out of the NW, making over 9 knots over ground with a nice following current.

Leaving Cape Flattery to port!

Sometimes seasickness gets the best of us! Not even out of the Straits yet...

Corinthian Yacht Club of Portland
Astoria, OR to Victoria, BC
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The notation ‘[DP]’ in a rule means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than disqualification.
1               RULES
1.1           The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (2017-2020).

All skippers are to make note of their time when passing 124º45’W longitude, leaving Duntze Rock Buoy to starboard. If the course is shortened, this will be the finish time. Yachts which abandon racing after passing 124º45’W will be scored if the course is shortened for that class. This changes RRS 32.

Amendment #3 May 02, 2017

OREGON OFFSHORE INTERNATIONAL YACHT RACE
Amendment May 2, 2017
Portland, OR

AMENDMENT #3
Safety and Equipment Requirements

1 SAFETY AND EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

Omitted:
3.33.4 Sails: Headsails

Rationale for changes: SER 3.33.2 requires all participants to have a heavy-weather jib therefore the Organizing Authority feels that also requiring a storm jib is unnecessary.

Oregon Offshore International Yacht Race

Schooner Creek Boat Works

Schooner Creek is proud to have not one but two boats built by our company racing in the 2017 Oregon Offshore International Yacht Race. Rage, a Wylie 70, and Hana Mari, Wylie 43, will be competing again this year. Both boats were built using COVE construction. This process involves laminating wood veneers over a foam core for an incredibly strong and light weight boat. We wish them and the rest of their competitors smooth sailing!
