We just spoke with Andy McCann. Rya is now under power and heading to Victoria. They hope to arrive by about 10pm or so. Rya was hit with a 15' wave over the bow Thursday night. The bimini (front and back) was damaged. The water coming into the cockpit filled it, destroying their navigation computer. The cockpit did not drain quickly enough, and there was so much water that it went into the salon destroying their other computer. All the crew was fine. They decided to continue racing and did so until about 10 am today. The light air and not wanting to spend the night navigating the Straits without their nav system or radar convinced them that it would be prudent to start motoring in.
