Cantata, Ericson 38, to sing the song of Oregon Offshore!

CYC Portland members Tom Brownson and Liz Bartell have entered their Ericson 38 again this year. You might remember them as the boat that lost its rudder in 2014 just north of Grays Harbor. Luckily the boat and her crew made it safely in under emergency steering. We are excited to have them back!


Cantata hails from Astoria, OR, and has a PHRF rating of 147.

Alright, alright, alright....it's the final countdown for registration people

That's right....the Final Countdown to register for the 2016 40th Anniversary of the Oregon Offshore International Yacht Race. All entries must be in (or post-marked) by tomorrow night at 2400. On that note, please join us at Kell's Upstairs, Downtown Portland, OR for the Kick Off Party @ 1830. We will be selling shirts, giving away raffles prizes, reminiscing about past years and preparing for this year's race. Racing? Sponsoring? Supporting your favorite sailor? Come celebrate with us!

Twenty Twen Twen, Panama Red to race again!

We have twenty entries with more on the way! 

Panama Red, Portland's infamous big red boat, is a Mumm 36 with PHRF rating 51. Co-skippered by Chris Schweiger and Jeff McDonald, these guys will give the others a run for their money and enjoy every minute of it. Panama Red will hang out in BC for Swiftsure fun, aiming for another victory. Mumms the word though, what happens on the boat, stays on the boat!


Night Runner enters with more wins than Charlie Sheen!

An iconic Pacific NW boat, Night Runner, skippered by Doug Fryer, has entered the race. With more wins than Charlie Sheen, this Bob Perry designed 42' cutter is sure to turn some heads. Click here to see what Bob Perry himself thinks of Night Runner. Our friends on Night Runner will also be racing in the Swiftsure Lightship Classic. This Anacortes boat has a PHRF rating of 78.



Entry #18: Hana Mari, a Wylie 43, out of Victoria, BC

What could be better than a Portland based Schooner Creek Boat Works built boat hailing out of Victoria, BC, and racing in both Oregon Offshore and Swiftsure?! We like it! Two Wylies in one year...we'll take that, too! Skippered by Ged McLean, with a PHRF rating of 66, Hana Mari is sure to create some competitive waves.

Canard to race first Offshore as Qualifier for Vic-Maui

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are pleased to announce the entry of Canard, a Jeanneau 36i, fresh out of Seattle, WA. Skippered by Joseph Gaffney, this will be Canard's first Oregon Offshore in preparation for Vic-Maui. PHRF rating 132. CYC of Portland welcomes you, Canard!

Portland native, this J-105 (the second to enter OOR), Free Bowl of Soup, is gearing up for the 2016 race season! With entries in for Oregon Offshore, Swiftsure, Whidbey Island, and even pre-registration for a potential YBYC Bridge-to-Bridge, there are good times coming! These guys know all about community support, on and off the water.

Souffle aiming to break some new records!

Skippered by Philip Lewis, Souffle, proudly managed to set the record for the Slowest Last Place boat to finish their first year to race, followed only by breaking the record for the Fastest Last Place boat to finish the second year! She's got new digs now, including a new engine, new gel coat finish, and new non-skid. Wonder what records will be crushed this year?!


Souffle, a Cal 34 Mk1 out of Portland, OR, is our first Cruising Class competitor. Any more takers?!

Abstract to race first Oregon Offshore!

Abstract, a Portland based J-105 skippered by Doug Pihlaja, will be competing in her first ever Oregon Offshore! Abstract rates 93 and should make for some good competition. Good luck! We wish you the best out there and look forward to the post-race stories!

Tom Kelly will race Anam Cara for the umpteenth time this year. She is a J-22 hailing from Portland, OR, and she rates 42 PHRF!

Rain Drop - Cascade 36 - entered

Looks like we have a second Cascade 36 competing this year. Rain Drop, hailing from Portland, OR, is skippered by Joby Easton and holds a PHRF rating of 138. Rain Drop will be staying in Victoria to race Swiftsure as well.



Time Bandit J 120 back for more

Robert Brunius of West Sound, WA, has entered his J 120, Time Bandit. This boat has raced in the Oregon Offshore many times, it's good to have her back!


She will race with a PHRF rating of 54.

Aja, Ericson 35-II, is back for more!

Rich Elstrom has raced many an Offshore aboard his Aja, an Ericson 35-II. They'll be back this year, with a PHRF rating of 150.

Representing the SC27s: Blade Runner!

Blade Runner, with skipper Ward Naviaux at the helm, is no stranger to Oregon Offshore. Hailing from Bellingham, WA, this Santa Cruz 27 has a PHRF rating of 156. Looking forward to the Post-race footage!

Ah come on Eileen!

Our next entrant has got us singing! Lady Eileen, a Baba 30, hailing from Port Ludlow, WA, will be joining the ranks this year. Lady Eileen is skippered Barrett Crabtree. She rates 249 for PHRF and even more on the FUN scale according to this article found on Three Sheets NW website.



Passepartout to compete again!

Our seventh official entry, Passepartout, hails from Mount Vernon, WA. Passepartout is a Stevens 47, skippered by Pete Shainin, with a PHRF rating of 115. Welcome back!



Blue Martini to race her first Oregon Offshore!

Blue Martini, a Valiant 50, has been turning heads ever since she showed up in the Portland sailing scene last year. Skipper, Steve Ford, has previously crewed in Oregon Offshore but this will be his first time to skipper. We wish you fair winds and following seas friend! (PHRF rating pending)



Welcome back Thirsty!

Looks like the US boat count is catching up! Skippered by Portland's own Alan Bergen, Thirsty is a C&C 35 Mk III, and she rates 132. Glad to see that Maple leaf will be joining us again.


Wy'East to race her 21st year!

It's official! Skipper Frank Colistro is back for even more blue water abuse. Frank has been an active member of CYC Portland for as many years as he has been racing Oregon Offshore and we are excited to support him and the Wy'East crew.


Wy'East is a Cascade 36 with a PHRF rating of 153 and holds to record for participating in the most Oregon Offshore races to date.
